Tangi Humane Adoption Event
When: January 5
Where: The Mutt Hut in Ponchatoula
Time: 10 AM
"We will be celebrating The Mutt Hut's Grand Opening with an adoption event where we will be bringing some of our dogs in hopes of finding them their forever home. Weather permitting, we will be there 10-1. Our adoption fee is $125 which covers worming, immunizations, rabies and spay/neuter."

Adult King Cake Class
When: January 11
Where: Berrytown Produce
Time: 6-8 PM
Stop by Berrytown Produce for a fun, hands on experience! Learn how to make your own king cake to take home. Dinner and drinks will also be served.

Italian Festival Ball
When: January 12
Where: Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church Hall in Tickfaw
Time: 7-11 PM
Tickets can be purchased from any board member or at the Tickfaw City Hall. There will be live music by the Dominoes as well! For more information, click here.

UDA Dance Competition
When: January 13
Where: Southeastern Louisiana University
Time: 10 AM
"Founded in 1980, UDA is the largest provider of dance camps and competitions in the world. UDA hosts over 30 regional events as well as the National Dance Team Championship at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida. These Championships are nationally televised on ESPN, ESPN2 and CBS Sports to over 100 million homes and 32 countries nationwide each year."

Abita Brew Krewe on the Run
When: Starting January 2
Where: Abita Brewing Company
Time: 6-8:30 PM
"Join the Brew Krewe on the Run for a fun run on the Tammany Trace every Wednesday night! The group runs toward the Abita Brew Pub and back, approximately 5K. Admission is $30 and includes one free beer. First-timers also receive an official Abita Beer pint glass, and third-time runners earn an Abita Brew Krewe t-shirt."

Northshore Cajun Dance ft. Coobie Joe

Where: Abita Springs Town Hall
Time: 7-10:30 PM
"The Northshore Cajun Dancers Club was established in 1991 with a mission to promote the music and dancing of the Cajun people. Free dance lessons are offered from 7:00 - 7:30 p.m., then stay to practice what you learned with the live music. Event sponsor Abita Springs Trailhead Museum provides small portion entrees, desserts, snacks, soft drinks, beer, and wine at a nominal charge during the dances. Patronage of the concession stand supports the Museum and the Town of Abita Springs."

2nd Annual Hannan Gumbo Cook-Off

Where: Archbishop Hannan High School
Time: 12-3 PM
"The 2nd Annual Hannan Gumbo Cook-Off, hosted by Archbishop Hannan High School Alumni, will be January 26th from 12-3pm on campus. Proceeds will benefit the AHHS Alumni Association, the Legacy Scholarship and other alumni programs.  This is a family friendly event with vendors, crafts booths, kids activities, 50/50 raffle, concessions, and of course...gumbo! Admission is free - gumbo tasting tickets are $10 for adults & $5 for students."

LPO Young People's Concerts: A Musical Delivery

"The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) presents A Musical Delivery, a performance in LPO's Young People's Concerts program targeting 2nd through 8th grade students. The LPO partners with Carnegie Hall's Link Up program for these concerts, which offers students the opportunity to sing or play along with the LPO on recorders or string instruments." Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

The Gonzales Lions Club is holding its annual All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, January 20th! Everyone is invited to attend. Come support a wonderful cause while enjoying great food and sensational entertainment provided by Center Stage Performing Arts Academy. The event includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, juice, milk, and coffee.

Ascension Public Schools Career Fair

"All Ascension Parish high school students and their parents are invited to acquire first-hand knowledge of career and education options after graduation. The Louisiana Marathon

"Professional Athletes Supporting Students (PASS) is hosting it's 2nd annual fundraiser SOUPER Bowl II. It is a soup and gumbo tasting event featuring favorite restaurants, caterers and vendors from the greater Baton Rouge area. By making a gift You provide HOPE to hundreds of students."

9th Annual Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic
When: January 2-5
Where: Alario Center
Time: 11:30 AM-9 PM
"Each January, the Allstate Sugar Bowl sponsors the National Prep Basketball Classic. The event features multiple brackets for both boys’ and girls’ high school basketball players.  While the event started with eight teams in 2011, it is expected to grow to more than 64 teams in 2019. The tournament will feature at least eight out of state participants. In addition, in 2018, the tournament organizers, Friends of Prep Sports LLC, awarded four $1,500 scholarships to deserving student athletes in the tournament."

112th Jackson Day Race

"Run or walk the most historic road race in the Southeast at the 112th Jackson Day Race. Enjoy the sights of the Chalmette Battlefield as we celebrate the American victory at the Battle of New Orleans! The 112th Jackson Day Race course will continue to be the traditional 9K distance, and will be followed by a post-race party at the Aycock Barn. The 112th Jackson Day Race is produced by the New Orleans Track Club, with members and non-members welcome to participate. Participants of all speeds and abilities are encouraged to join the fun."

6th Annual Battle of New Orleans Historical Symposium

Join us for a day filled with all of the food you can eat and a 5K walk/run! Fun for the whole family. The 5K kicks off at 9:30, and the gates for the cook off will open at 11.
