Inaugural Tangipahoa Red Beans n Rice Cook Off

This event marks the official kick-off of the inaugural Tangipahoa United Way Campaign. Guests will enjoy all-you-can-eat red beans and rice, desserts, music, and raffles – and have the chance to cast their vote for the best cooking team. Bring your friends, family, and co-workers along for lunch! Proceeds benefit United Way of Southeast Louisiana’s programs serving a seven-parish region, including Tangipahoa.

Hot August Night

Where: Downtown Hammond

Playing the Staircase

The Hammond Regional Arts Center is pleased to announce the next season of its original listening room series, "Playing the Staircase." This exciting concept sees the Hammond Regional Arts Center transform into an intimate listening room for original, acoustic music designed to expand the Arts Center’s mission with the audio arts.

Scoutfest 2019

Covington White Linen for Public Art

Where: Downtown Covington
Time: 6-9 PM
Covington White Linen for Public Art has quickly become one of the Northshore’s most popular and well-attended affairs, showcasing the Northshore’s vast array of artists, restaurants, shops, and more – all in the name of public art. This free event takes place throughout Covington’s Cultural Arts District, generally Boston Street from Lee Lane to Columbia, both of which will be closed to vehicle traffic, and surrounding streets. Pedestrians are invited to shop, stroll, eat and imbibe while enjoying a variety of local vendors, live music, art demonstrations and more. For more information, click here.

New Orleans Saints Fan Up Pep Rally

Where: Northshore Harbor Center
Time: 5-8 PM
"The East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce presents the 2019 New Orleans Saints Fan Up Pep Rally, a tailgate party to kick off the New Orleans Saints 2019-20 Season while raising funds for the Chamber."

Dancing for a Cause
When: August 10
Where: Lamar Dixon Expo Center
Time: 7 PM
The event showcases community leaders and prominent citizens of the Ascension Parish and surrounding area, as they transform into Star Dancers to present live ballroom performances with their professional dance partners at the Lamar Dixon 4-H Building located at 931 St. Landry Rd. Gonzales, LA.

Taste of Tiger Tailgating

Where: Lamar Dixon Expo Center
Time: 5 PM
Every football fan’s favorite way to kick off the season is just around the corner! Get your friends together and come out for eats, drinks, live music plus plenty of shopping from vendors who want your tailgate to be better than anyone else’s! For more information, click here!

Carden International Circus

Bluebonnet Swamp Flashlight Night
When: August 9
Where: BREC's Swamp Nature Center
Time: 5-9 PM
Take an evening stroll through Bluebonnet Swamp once per season during our Swamp Flashlight Nights! Bring your family and friends for a fun group outing or head out on the trails solo to enjoy this BREC park after hours. Before or after your night hike, meet some of our resident educational animals in the nature center. The swamp trails can be really dark at night so don’t forget to bring a flashlight.

Knock Stock
When: August 17-18
Where: Knock Knock Children's Museum
Time: 12-4 PM
The 2019 Knock Stock Children’s Music Festival will be held Saturday, August 17th – Sunday, August 18th! Don’t miss two fun-filled days of music, groovy pop-up activities, and a Big Backyard of games!

Zoo Run Run 5K and Fun Run

Where: BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo
Time: 6:30 AM-9:30 AM
Run like a cheetah to our 14th annual Zoo Run Run 5K and ½ Mile Kids' Fun Run! At the run, enjoy the scenery as you scamper, trot or gallop your way through BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo. All proceeds from the race support your Baton Rouge Zoo and international cheetah conservation efforts. For more information, click here!

JPAS Theatre Kids Presents Aladdin Jr!

Archbishop Rummel Fishing Rodeo and Family Fest

Where: Archbishop Rummel High School

Kick off the school year with Rummel Family Fest! There will be kid's activities, inflatables, face paintings, giveaways and more!

Metry Market at the Park
When: Recurring every 2 weeks on Friday
Where: Lafreniere Park

"Rain or shine, Metairie's open-air market will feature fresh foods, live music, kids entertainment, specialty events, festivals, breakfast and lunch items, and a great community vibe."

59th Grand Isle Redfish Rodeo
When: August 30-September 1
Where: Bridge Side Marina
The Grand Isle Redfish Rodeo is the original redfish rodeo. It supports the community of Grand Isle through contributions. It fosters good fishing for all ages, both young and old, men, women, and children.

Celebrate the Child Annual Benefit
When: August 9
Where: Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center
Time: 6:30-9:30 PM
This adult-only event will consist of great food from individuals and local restaurants, wine and beer, live and silent auctions, live music, games, and more. Attire is business casual. Tickets are $60 per person. For more information, click here!

TCOA Bingo
When: August 13
Where: Houma Municipal Auditorium
Time: 9 AM- 3 PM
For seniors, ages 60 or older. Purchase tickets before the event for $1 at any TCOA center or at the Main Operation Building (995 West Tunnel Blvd.). Tickets will be available to purchase at the door as well, but lunch is not guaranteed. Bingo will include 15 bingo games and 1 blackout game. Bingo cards will be sold for $1 a piece with a 20 card maximum.

Live After 5
When: August 30
Where: Courthouse Square in Houma
Time: 7-10 PM
Free concert series. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy entertainment by Clustafunk.
